The Men Who Stare At Starlings

I'm not too sure what's going on in Bird World, but if the flocks of starlings locally are anything to go by, it must be pretty good.  Every evening they seem compelled to gather in their thousands, in precise formation, and privilege us with an awe inspiring display of synchronised aerobatics.  Simply put, it's amazing.

Perhaps what's just as amazing is the lack of response of those firmly grounded in People World.  As I walked to the Post Office the other day with my eyes fixed on the sky, I was surprised that so few people stopped to take any notice.  In the evening bustle, no one seemed bothered that just above our heads a natural work of art was in constant motion. Why I wondered?

Maybe we're all just too busy to enjoy moments like these?  Perhaps our own little Me Worlds have become such Small Worlds, that we daren't look out at higher horizons in fear that they'll expose our Frail Worlds for what they really are?

Or perhaps it's just that we've all seen birds flying before, and it's me being a bit over philosophical?  They're just birds Tim. Nothing special.

But then, on my way back from the Post Office I met an elderly gent, rooted to the middle of the pavement, head held back as far is it would go.  With a massive grin on his face, he was staring at the sky.

I said, 'Amazing aren't they.'

'Yeah, they're lovely,' he replied through his infectious smile, without looking at me once.

Funny how a Higher World can bring a glimmer of joy to us planted in the Lower World. Whatever the case, and if the old man's smile is anything to go by, I think I'm on to something.

It's all in the title

Here we have it - my religious blog.  Well done me.

Took a while to choose a name for this blog believe it or not.  At least it's clear what it's about.  I was looking for a much more 'creative wow' kind of title, but all the ones I came up with were completely loaded with alternative meanings, which really wouldn't help the cause.  Anyway, it's not about the title or the name is it?  It's all about content.  Which is certainly true when it comes to band names!  Who would have thought that a band named after a plurality of insects would have changed the world?

Besides, after about 3 hours of working out which blogging platform to use (didn't like the idea of blogging software that sounded like I'd be ironing words or falling over, so went with one that sounded like it was for people who blog), Tim's Religious Blog was the best I could come up with!

Hope it works out.
